TCD International (Pty) Ltd is planning on creating an artificial island between Robben Island and Dolphin Beach for the filthy rich.
Peace Island is designed to host luxury residential developments, an international trade centre, hotels, retail facilities and a maritime-themed entertainment complex. Sounds cool ;)

The website states that 10% of the islands total value will be used to build low cost housing for the poor on Cape Town's mainland. The figure to create the Peace Island is in the region of between R50bn and R80bn and a large amount of foreign investment has already shown interest.

However environmentalists (probably Greenpeace or someone like them) are not keen on the idea as it can cause a disturbance with the natural environment and presumably kill some sealife.... like sharks and crabs.
